Runway Theatre's production of A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE is set to open this Friday, May 31, and run through June 16, with performances at Friday & Saturday at 8 pm and Sunday at 3 pm.
Set in the French Quarter of New Orleans, Streetcar famously zeros in on the indisputably dysfunctional Blanche DuBois, a faded, mentally fragile Southern belle who moves in with her sister, Stella, and is tormented by her rough-hewn brother-in-law, Stanley. Blanche's preening about virtue and culture barely disguise her drinking problem and delusions of grandeur. Stella, is deferential and dominated by the often brutal but sensual Stanley, which leaves Blanche baffled. Emotions escalate, tempers flare and passions crescendo to a shocking climax in this classic tale.
