Rover Dramawerks continues their 18th Season with the dramedy A Southern Exposure by local playwright Kelley Kingston-Strayer. Performances will be at Rover's theatre in Plano, located in Ruisseau Village at 221 W. Parker Rd, Suite 580, at the northwest corner of Parker and 75. Performances run March 1-17 on Thursdays and Fridays at 8:00 p.m. and on Saturdays at 3:00 and 8:00 p.m.
Unrealistically romantic Callie Belle (played by Victoria Valentine) was raised by her sassy, Bible-thumping grandmother (Stacia Goad-Malone) and her two eccentric aunts (Sue Goodner and Pam Pendleton) in a small Kentucky town, but she yearns for more. When her fairy tale doesn't turn out the way she expects, she grows strong and independent while learning what family is all about - the fiercest kind of love imaginable.
A Southern Exposure has been produced all over the country and is the winner of the Appalachian Festival of Plays and Playwrights, winner of the Cincinnati Playwrights Initiative, winner of the State of Kentucky "Women Who Write," and winner of the Dallas County Literary Writers Competition.
Leslie Austin serves as director, with Jessica Morris Herrmann as stage manager. Set design is by Jake Blakeman, lighting design is by Kenneth Hall, and sound design is by Robbi Holman. Sakura Brunette provides costume design, with props designed by Terrie W. Justus. Aiyana McGarry Fairley is backstage crew.
