Rover Dramawerks continues their 17th Season with Bus Stop by William Inge. Performances will be at Rover's theatre in Plano, located in Ruisseau Village at 221 W. Parker Rd, Suite 580, at the northwest corner of Parker and 75. Performances run September 14 - October 7, 2017 on Thursdays and Fridays at 8:00 p.m. and on Saturdays at 3:00 and 8:00 p.m.
A snowstorm leaves weary bus passengers holed up over night at a roadside diner run by Grace (played by Victoria Irvine) and young Elma (Courtney Beyer). Cherie (Trisha Romo) is being pursued by Bo (Matt Lancaster), a headstrong cowboy in love who's ready to sling her over his shoulder and carry her, alive and kicking, all the way to Montana to marry him. He is stopped by the sheriff (Walt Threlkeld), Bo's friend Virgil (Deron Wade), and Carl, the bus driver (Chuck E. Moore), while Elma is similarly, if less aggressively, pursued by Dr. Lyman (StEve Roberts). Bus Stop is a classic comedy about the relationships between people on the journey of life, with a cast of characters struggling to love themselves and each other.
Matt Stepan serves as director, with Paula Raven as stage manager. Set design is by Abby Kipp-Roberts, with lighting design by Maxim Overton, and sound design by Shauna Holloway and Jason Rice. Costume design is by Carver Upton, with props designed by Kirstin M. Burgess and fight choreography by Joseph L. Taylor II.
Thursday, September 14 is Preview Night, with all seats $10.00 in advance online or "pay-what-you-can" at the door. Following the show on Friday, September 15, Rover will host their First Friday INSIDERS reception, where patrons can meet the cast, director, and designers.
