Circle Theatre's 30th Anniversary Season continues with the Southwest premiere of Seven in One Blow, or The Brave Little Kid, an adapted children's play conceived and written by Randy Sharp and Axis Company. When Seven in One Blow first premiered in 2002, The New York Times wrote, "As the brave little kid triumphs over an ogre, a witch, selfish royalty and a monster, the audience learns not to judge anything by its appearance, from parents to peas." Circle Theatre's production officially opened Saturday evening, November 19 at 7:30pm.
Under the direction of one of Circle's favorite directors, Robin Armstrong, Seven in One Blow features Eric Dobbins** (Frankie); Sherry Hopkins** (The Witch); Jim Johnson* (Ogre); Amy Elizabeth Jones** (A Pea); Kevin Scott Keating* (The QK); Mikaela Krantz** (Kid); Michael James** (December); Hannah McKinney (Princess Fartina); Brad Stephens** (Scarlet Pimpernel); Shane Strawbridge** (Mack).
Production team members for Seven in One Blow are: Sarahi Salazar*, Stage Manager; Clare Floyd DeVries, Set Designer; Robin Armstrong, Costume Designer; David H. M. Lambert, Sound Designer; John Leach, Lighting Designer; and John Harvey, Props Designer.
In her Director's Notes, Ms. Armstrong instructs the audience to: "1. Boo the Bad Guy 2. Help the Kid 3. Sing Loud 4. Cheer 5. Have Fun!" This family-friendly panto-play is an enchanting blend of fairy tale and holiday entertainment. The show is perfect for the young and young-at-heart of all ages. Because children six and up are encouraged to attend, Circle's show times are adjusted to accommodate a family's schedule. All evening shows for Seven in One Blow will begin at 7:30pm. The Saturday matinee will begin at its usual 3:00pm time. Children 6-12 years of age will be admitted for half of any full price ticket.
Seven in One Blow, or The Brave Little Kid was originally produced by Axis Company in New York City, Randy Sharp, Artistic Director; Jeffrey Resnick, Executive Producer.
