This powerful pop opera, inspired by Madame Butterfly, is an emotional tale about forbidden love, the tragedies of war and the sacrifices made to achieve the American Dream. This Tony Award-winning musical, created by the visionaries behind LES MISERABLES, features an unforgettable love story told through a series of sensational musical numbers including "Why God Why?", "The American Dream" and "The Last Night of the World."
Casa Mañana's production of Miss Saigon stars Jennifer Paz as Kim; Daniel Rowan as Chris; Kent Overshown as John Thomas and Joseph Anthony Foronda as the Engineer. Paz was the original Kim on the First National Tour of Miss Saigon and went on to originate the role in several US cities. Rowan, a North Texas native and Casa Mañana alumnus, is currently on hiatus from the off-Broadway production of The Fantasticks, the longest running musical in the world. Overshown recently toured with the 2009 Tony Award winning Best Musical, Memphis. Foronda starred as the Engineer in the original Broadway production of Miss Saigon.
Additional cast include Heather Botts (Ellen), Marc DeLacruz (Thuy), Dorcas Leung (Gigi), Amanda Jarufe (Yvette), Adrienne Tang (Mimi), Olivia de Guzman Emile (Yvonne), Parker Weathersbee (Tam) with ensemble members Brendan Cyrus, Christopher J. Deaton, Anthony Fortino, Brandon Wilhelm, Lamar Jefferson, Roel Garza and Oscar Seung.
Casa Mañana's production of Miss Saigon is presented in a limited engagement at Casa Mañana Theatre in Fort Worth. Performance dates are Saturday, August 10 at 2:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.; Sunday, August 11 at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.; Tuesday, August 13 at 7:30 p.m.; Wednesday, August 14 at 7:30 p.m.; Thursday, August 15 at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, August 16 at 8:00 p.m.; Saturday, August 17 at 8:00 p.m.; and Sunday, August 18 at 2:00 p.m. This show is suitable for mature audiences only.
Friday, August 9 at 7:00 p.m. is a student preview night with cast talkback following the show. This is open to students, faculty and staff with valid school ID. Student tickets are $10 and can be purchased in advance at the Casa Mañana Box Office or over the phone at (817) 332-2272, ext. 3. One ticket per ID.
