Outcry Theatre will present its first musical this October with Bat Boy: The Musical, story and book by Keythe Farley and Brian Flemming, and music and lyrics by Laurence O'Keefe (Heathers).
The campy cult show is the perfect way to get in the Halloween mood, and even has a Friday the 13th performance.
?A half boy/half bat creature has been discovered in a cave in West Virginia, and the Parker family must decide what to do with it. Will MerEdith Parker follow her instincts and treat the creature like a son? Or should veterinarian Dr. Parker just put it down? The Parkers' decision to raise the Bat Boy as their own sets the family on a collision course with their narrow-minded and frightened neighbors, and the developing relationship between Bat Boy and their daughter Shelley threatens to tear their whole world apart. Both hysterical and heartbreaking, Bat Boy: The Musical explores what it feels like to be an outcast and what it means to be human.
Starring as Bat Boy is Andy Stratton. The Parker family includes Caitlin Kresta as Shelley, Jenna Caire as Meredith, and Jason Johnson-Spinos as Dr. Parker. The rest of the cast includes Quinn Angel as Sheriff Reynolds, Logan Beutel as Rick Taylor/Lorraine, Bryce Lederer as Ron Taylor/Pan, Courtney Mentzel as Ruthie Taylor/Maggie, Ellen Eberhardt as Mrs. Taylor/Roy, Ian Lawson as Bud/Daisy, and Gustavo Perez Diaz as Rev. Billy Hightower/Ned.
The show is directed by Artistic Director Becca Johnson-Spinos and music directed by Marina Pogosyan. The stage manager is Rachel Svatos, the scenic designer is Bradley Gray, the costume and puppet designer is Gabrielle Grafrath, and the lighting designer is Jimilee Rempe. The band will feature Jason Bucklin on guitar, BriAnne Sargent on bass, and Chris Holmes on drums.
Tickets are available online now and will be available at the door. There is a service charge for tickets purchased online. https://buy.ticketstothecity.com/purchase.php?event_id=5692
