Saturdays will be filled with fantastic honky tonk music at the MCL Grand Theater with the arrival of 'Closing Night of the Great American Honky Tonk', presented by Our Productions Theatre Co. & Theatre FMPAT, Saturdays, September 14th and 21st, 100 North Charles Street, Lewisville.
The Great American Honky Tonk has been around for a long, long time; as long as anyone can remember. In a little town -- not too far from Dallas -- the Honky Tonk attracted locals for having the coldest beer, the best singers and the toe-tappin'-est music. Because of these memorable traits, some well-known music careers launched from this hole-in-the-wall. But in these changing times, The Great American Honky Tonk has new owners, and its future is uncertain.
One singer landed a big record deal in Nashville and another started her radio career. Yet, each of these girls lit up the stage in their own rights. When they sang together, it was magic -- until they shared a love interest for one of the boys in the band. Then, they went their own ways with a vengeance. The threat of The Great American Honky Tonk's closing brings them back together for the first time since their falling out.
Will the sparks fly? You bet! Will you be tapping your toes to songs you know and love? Uh huh! Will it be the last night of the Great American Honky Tonk? It's all up to you!
Starring critically acclaimed Dallas-Fort Worth actor/musicians Mark Mullino, Rick Norman, Stephanie Riggs and Angie McWhirter, the show is presented in a limited run on Saturdays, September 14 and 21 at 3:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. Book writer and director, Neale Whitmore, says, "This is a fun event for the entire family, with songs both old and new for every generation."
