Our Productions Theatre Co. presents DEAR EDWINA, by Marcy Heisler & Zina Goldrich (ADVENTURES IN LOVE) as our next Youth & Family production, four performances only, June 28 - 30th.
Thirteen year-old Edwina Spoonapple would do just about anything to be a part of the Kalamazoo Advice-a-palooza Festival. While her siblings both have proof "up on the fridge" of their accomplishments, poor Edwina has nothing. When a talent scout from the convention visits her hometown of Paw Paw, Michigan, she trots out her musical advice giving shows live from the family garage in hopes of finding her place in the spotlight. She is assisted by her older siblings (on piano and drums) and a host of quirky friends and neighbors: Becky, the perky cheerleader; Kelli, the cool, sophisticated ballerina; Annie, the girl-scout cookie-selling champion; the Vanderploonk triplets; Bobby, the befuddled new kid on the block; and Scott, who is helplessly and hopelessly in love with Edwina. Together they set out to tackle the world's problems, in number after hysterical number about everything from birthday party etiquette to the proper way to set a table ("salad fork, fork, plate, knife, spoon").
Our Youth & Family productions are the perfect way to bring the entire family to the theatre and suitable for all audiences. Tickets may be purchased on our website at www.fmpat.org or www.ourproductions.org.
Then later in the season, we resume with our Adult Professional Series with the regional premier of PAGEANT PLAY a comedy by Matthew Wilkas & Mark Setlock in September, and the swinging country musical PUMP BOYS & DINETTES, by John Foley, Mark Hardwick, Debra Monk, Cass Morgan, John Schimmel & Jim Wann in December.
A new location brings some wonderful and exciting changes. Now that we have a beautiful new venue at the MCL Grand, we also have an additional name, Our Productions Theatre Co. The Board of Directors felt that the new name would be more reflective of our mission. It is, after all, a theatre company for all of us. Our Productions. The new logos are on the website, and you will slowly see the changes on all of our correspondence. Please take a minute to look at the new website. We hope it will better reflect our work and allow us to keep you, our patrons better informed of our productions.
Big fun in store. We are excited, and hope you are too!

Young Artist Training Educational Program
Summer Production Camp
Student performers from the camp take center stage for DEAR EDWINA! Come see the next generation of theatre stars as they strut their stuff!
Since 1993 FMPAT's Young Artist Training Program is proud to have been providing professional level training for students interested in pursuing a career in the performing arts. Our program is one of the areas oldest and most unique youth training programs. The audition only program is purposely quite small to afford us the opportunity to provide students a low teacher student ratio in a conservatory setting. Students are able to work with the areas top teachers and working professionals. We have a wonderful 20 year history of producing outstanding, young professional performers, directors, producers and choreographers. Fall/Spring term includes opportunities for students to work with professional teachers/coaches led by Stephanie Riggs, one of the areas most respected musical theatre and vocal coaches.
Admission to YATP is by Audition Only. All youth and teen students, ages 7 - 18 must audition for the program. Our program is unique in offering training for the student who is craving a professional work environment, where they will be challenged constantly to work to the best of their abilities among other young performers with similar goals and dedication.
Auditions for any remaining openings for our fall/spring classes will be held by appointment. Please watch for further information.
Financial Aid is available for families that qualify. It is the goal of the program to not turn away any accepted student due to an inability to pay tuition. Deadline for applications for aid for fall 2012 is June 1st, and December 1st for spring/summer 2013.
