"Bull is a mean, nasty, down-right dastardly look at the inner workings of office politics. Mike Bartlett's script is lean, mean and allows the inner bullies of several professional adults run rampant in a darkly comedic way," said Bull director Christie Vela. "I enjoy the opportunity to get down to the nitty-gritty of human behavior and am beyond thrilled to make my Second Thought Theatre directorial debut with this production."
Bull is a savage, acid-tongued new play by Mike Bartlett, one of the UK's most exciting and inventive young writers, and the author of the STT's 2014 smash hit Cock. Razor sharp and blackly comic, Bull is a ruthless and insightful play about office politics or playground bullying, depending which side you're on. It's a genuinely thrilling, daring and inventive play that probes the dark side of the modern workplace.
Alex Ross makes his STT debut as Tony, one of three employees waiting to see if he's going to get fired. Ian Ferguson, who appeared in last season's BOOTH, plays Thomas, another employee who can't quite keep up with the meanness of his two co-workers. Natalie Young is returning to Second Thought Theatre as the determined and vicious Isobel. The man making the decision is Carter, played by Jeremy Schwartz, who last appeared on the STT stage in 2013's In a Forest, Dark and Deep.
It's an intimate 60-seat space that will put the audience in the bull fighting arena. Vela doubles as the costume designer on this show with the space designed by STT technical director Drew Wall. Returning to STT after last season's c*ckand Nocturne is Aaron Johansen as lighting designer.
Bull opens with previews on Thursday, February at 8:00pm. Opening and press night is Friday, February 27 at 8:00pm. The PWYC performances of BOOTH will take place on Monday, March 2 and Monday, March 9 at 8:00pm. PWYC tickets are available at the Wyly Theatre box office 90 minutes prior to the start of the performance and are subject to availability. Bull runs through March 14.
