The momentum of last year's first Dallas Cabaret Festival will continue with an outstanding line up for the Second Annual Dallas Cabaret Festival, July 27-29, at the Women's Museum at Fair Park (3800 Parry Avenue, Dallas, TX 75226). Opening this year's festival on July 27 at 7:30 p.m. will be the mesmerizing vocalist and former Raelette, Cynthia Scott . Cynthia will be debuting her new cabaret show 'All About Love.'
"Cynthia Scott is a master at lighting up a stage. Style, sophistication and spunk: She's got it all!" - Jazz Legend David "Fathead" Newman.
Friday night, July 28 at 7:30 p.m., will feature the winner of DLO's 'So You Think You Can Cabaret' competition, Tarnecia Durham in her first 45-minute cabaret. The competition was designed to encourage and nurture new Cabaret Artists. The featured artist on Friday night is a top 20 finalist from Season 11 of NBC's "The Voice," Simone Gundy with her show 'My Voice'.
And closing out the festival this year will be a review show, 'It's All About the Blues' on Saturday, July 29, at 7:30 p.m. Kicking off the night will be national and international blues guitarist, Samuel James. He will then join the all-star band headed up by Music Director Norman Williams and along with vocalists Denise Lee, Kevin Haliburton, Willie Welch, Calvin Roberts and Stephanie Brehm. The show will take you on a history of blues music that is guaranteed to leave you wanting more.
"Cabaret has taken off! When I started this journey about 6 years ago, very few venues offered this type of entertainment," says Lee. "And now you see the word 'Cabaret' listed on the schedules of several music establishments. We are doing what we set out to do and that's bring entertainers back to the forefront and allowing them to have a musical exchange with the audience. Engaging with the audience is part of the magic!"
Each evening will also benefit a different charity organization, including The Stewpot, Resource Center and St. Philips School and Community Center.
"It's so important to me that we also give back to our community," continued Lee. "Hopefully by bring awareness to these organizations, people can give money, volunteer their time or both."
The Festival will take place at the Women's Building in Fair Park beginning at 7:30 p.m. each evening. Parking is free.
