Jubilee Theatre opens the 2009-2010 season with a regional premiere of the comedy by Samm-Art Williams, The Dance on Widow's Row. Exploding onto Broadway two decades ago with his Tony-nominated Home, Williams went on to act, write and produce for television including the hit NBC sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel Air. Previews for this production will begin October 16, and the production officially opens on October 23.

One evening, four wealthy widows invite the area's four most eligible bachelors to an intimate soiree for eight. Having already buried several husbands, they know that the neighbors' tongues will wag like the tail of a starving dog with the key to the butcher shop; but they are willing to defy small town mores and endure vicious gossip if there is a chance that they will meet "Mr. Right." The Dance on Widow's Row is a light comedy about death, dating, and superstition.

Directed by Ed Smith, The Dance on Widow's Row features an accomplished cast of Jubilee favorites: Stormi Demerson, Cynthia Jackson, Michele Rene, Barbara Woods, Lloyd Barnes, Bill Hass, and Robert Rouse. Designers include set design by George Miller, light design by Nikki DeShea Smith, and sound design by Joe Rogers.

Single tickets for this production as well as season tickets are available now. The Dance on Widow's Row previews October 16, 17, 18 and October 22; the show opens October 23; and the show runs October 23 through November 8. Performances are Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings at 8 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday matinees at 3 p.m. A post performance talkback with the artists and special guests will be held on October 25. Preview performance tickets are $10; tickets range from $14 to $24 for the run of the production. Tickets can be purchased from the Jubilee Theatre Box Office by calling 817-338-4411 Tuesday through Friday between noon and 6 p.m. or online by visiting the Jubilee website: www.jubileetheatre.org.
