Casa Mañana Theatre opens its 2016-17 Broadway season with Jesus Christ Superstar, tonight, September 10, through September 18. Tickets are on sale now.

A global phenomenon that has wowed audiences for over 40 years, Jesus Christ Superstar is a timeless work of Christ's final days, but seen, unusually, through the eyes of Judas Escariot. As Jesus' radical teachings are evermore embraced, Judas increasingly questions the enlightened motives of this new prophet, resulting in betrayal. Propelled by a stirring score by Andrew Lloyd Webber with lyrics by Tim Rice, Jesus Christ Superstar dramatizes this series of events with emotional intensity, thought-provoking edge and explosive theatricality.

Jesus Christ Superstar features Broadway veteran Jackie Burns as "Mary Magdalene." Ms. Burns most recently starred in the national tour of If/Then. Her Broadway credits include the Tony Award-nominated revival of Hair, and she is one of the longest-running actors to play "Elphaba" in Wicked.

Michael Hunsaker and Daniel Rowan return to Casa as "Judas" and "Jesus," respectively. Mr. Hunsaker most recently starred as "Jean Valjean" in Casa's production of LES MISERABLES. Mr. Rowan's Casa credits include "Enjolras" in LES MISERABLES and "Chris" in Miss Saigon.

The cast is rounded out by James Chandler as "Peter," Craig Glen Foster as "Simon," Glenn Seven Allen as "Pontius Pilate," Brian Golub as "Annas," Greg Dulcie as "Caiaphas," and local favorite, BJ Cleveland as "King Herod."

The ensemble features: Alyssa Gardner, Taylor Quick, Cristina Castro, Caroline Ellis, Stefanie Tovar, Alexandra Cassens, Olivia Sharber, Patrick Clanton, Domanick Hubbard, Winston Daniels, Vinnie Mahal, Rashaun Sibley, Matt Andersen, Calvin Scott Roberts and Sergio Antonio Garcia.

The production is directed and choreographed by Broadway choreographer Josh Rhodes. Mr. Rhodes most recently choreographed the Tony Award-nominated Bright Star. His past Broadway credits also include It Shoulda Been You and Cinderella. Additional creative team members include James Cunningham as music director, Adam Koch as scenic designer, Brad Peterson as projections designer, Samuel Rushen as lighting designer, Kyle McCord as Sound Designer, Tammy Spencer as costume designer and Catherine Petty-Rogers as hair, wig and makeup designer.

Ticket prices range from $41 to $76 and can be purchased by calling Ticketmaster at 800-745-3000 or by visiting www.casamanana.org. Tickets are also available at the Casa Mañana Theatre box office, 3101 West Lancaster Avenue in Fort Worth.
