Award-winning actor and playwright Ira David Wood III will star as "Atticus Finch" in Casa Mañana's production of To Kill a Mockingbird September 24 - October 2. The role was slated to be performed by Jonathan Crombie but due to illness Crombie will no longer portray the role of "Atticus Finch."

Wood is a noted actor, director and playwright whose career in theatre spans over 40 years. He has appeared in several regional musical productions including Peter Pan, Man of La Mancha, The Full Monty and The Sound of Music. He has several playwright credits including Eros & Illinois and Requiem for A King which both had extended runs off-Broadway. Wood is well-known for conceiving and producing the musical adaptation of A Christmas Carol at Theatre In The Park in Raleigh, North Carolina for the past 37 years. Wood's daughter is Emmy and Golden Globe nominated actress Evan Rachel Wood.

Casa Mañana's production of To Kill a Mockingbird is presented in partnership with Dallas Theater Center. Due to an existing commitment to play "Scrooge" in Theatre In The Park's production of A Christmas Carol, Wood will not play the role of "Atticus Finch" in Dallas Theater Center's run of To Kill a Mockingbird. DTC will announce casting for this role at a later date.

Tickets for To Kill a Mockingbird are on sale now and can be purchased by calling the Casa Mañana Theatre box office at 817.332.2272. You can also visit the box office at 3101 West Lancaster Ave., Fort Worth. Ticket prices are $40 to $65, depending upon seating location. For more information, visit www.casamanana.org.
