Imagination Players is bringing a Broadway classic to the stage at the KD Studio Theatre. "Bye Bye Birdie" tells the story of a rock and roll singer who is about to be inducted into the army. His manager plans a farewell party at which the star is to kiss one lucky fan good bye on "The Ed Sullivan Show" before he departs to serve his country.
Written by Michael Stewart, "Bye Bye Birdie" played on Broadway for 607 performances at the Martin Beck Theatre and 268 performances in London at Her Majesty's Theatre. The music was written by Charles Strouse with lyrics by Lee Adams. Award-winning Michael Serrecchia will serve as the director for the production with Lynn Ambrose serving as musical director. Linda Leonard is the show's choreographer. Michael Serrecchia has earned his living in the theatre for the past 40 years. 18 of those years on Broadway in such shows as; "Seesaw", "The Rothchilds", "Sing Happy", "A Chorus Line" to name a few. Feature films include "Jeremy", "Annie" and "Every Little Step", with guest appearances on several soap operas; "All My Children" and "As the World Turns". Michael also toured the world as Chita Rivera's dance partner in "Chita Plus Two" for four years. Currently Michael is in his 5th year at KD Studio Conservatory of Film and Dramatic Arts as Director of the Musical Theatre Degree Program and is also working with La Paloma Films developing a property on the life of Nicola Tesla.Are you an avid theatergoer?
