Official reports state that in Flower Mound, TX on June 10, 2009, a tornado touched down spreading damage across the city. There were numerous reports of roof damage, downed trees and flattened fences.

A local boy, Jack, says that this is not true.

"There are giants in the sky, " sang Jack, "There are big tall terrible awesome scary wonderful giants in the sky!"

The Baker, his wife, the Witch next door and a little girl in a red cloak have also claimed to have seen the giant, as well as princes, the wolf and a cow as white a milk.

For more information as this story unfolds, please see INTO THE WOODS at FMPAT July 10 through 18!

An ambivalent Cinderella? A blood-thirsty Little Red Ridinghood? A Prince Charming with a roving eye? A Witch...who raps? They're all among the cockeyed characters in James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim's fractured fairy tale.

When a Baker and his Wife learn they've been cursed with childlessness by the Witch next door, they embark on a quest for the special objects required to break the spell, swindling, lying to and stealing from Cinderella, Little Red, Rapunzel and Jack (the one who climbed the beanstalk). Everyone's wish is granted at the end of Act One, but the consequences of their actions return to haunt them later, with disastrous results. What begins a lively irreverent fantasy in the style of "The Princess Bride" becomes a moving lesson about community responsibility and the stories we tell our children.

Stephanie Riggs directs and choreographs this all youth production of this Sondheim favorite and Adam C. Wright music directs.

Additionally, benefitting the North Texas Food Bank, FMPAT is conducting an open ended food drive. Please drop off any non-perishable food items at the theatre at 830 Parker Square, any time the theatre is open.

FMPAT's mission is to develop cultural growth in North Texas, with an emphasis in Flower Mound by challenging audiences through presentation of new, diverse, and classic theatrical productions for both adults and children; raising awareness of important issues through performance; fostering the educational development of future artists; and preserving the heritage of live theatrical performances for both current and future generations.
