Auditions for the musical Phantom with Garland Civic Theatre (GCT) are taking place Jun. 27-28 at 108 N. 6th St., Garland, Texas.

Written by Maury Yeston and Arthur Kopit and considered the inspiration to Andrew Lloyd Webber's "The Phantom of the Opera", Phantom is a rapturous and entrancing musical masterpiece.

This particular show matches and even surpasses its British sibling note for note with its own soaring beautiful score and a wonderfully playful sense of humor and epic grandeur. The production will be directed by Kyle McClaran and the music director will be Byron Holder.

Auditions for Garland Civic Theatre productions are usually on Saturday and Sunday from 1-5 pm at the GCT offices. Auditions for GCT musicals are usually a cold reading and you will be asked to have both an upbeat song and a ballad prepared. An accompanist is provided but you must bring sheet music in the key you prefer. Your vocal selections may be limited to a verse of a few measures. For shows with dance, you may be asked to dance at the audition or a separate dance call may be set.

Auditions can be through individual appointments or group audition. Please check the organization's web site for changes or call 972-485-8884 for up-to-date information or an appointment.

Rehearsals will begin on Jul. 6 and the production will run Thu-Sun, Aug. 20 - Sep. 12 at the Garland Civic Theatre.
