The producers of FACING EAST, a new musical based on the moving play by Carol Lynn Pearson, are thrilled to announce that the show will play the Uptown Theatre in Grand Prairie, TX for a one night only concert on August 27, 2013.

Executive Producer Nathan Gardner says "In the Dallas-Fort Worth region I see a wonderful arts community to work within, and in tandem with, to continue to grow our show. I see a city busting at the seams with things to offer. And I also see, on the other end of the spectrum, an audience that could benefit from seeing the story our show portrays."

FACING EAST features a features a score by David Rigano, with book and lyrics by Mark-Eugene Garcia and direction by Andrew Hobgood.

The show follows an upstanding Mormon couple dealing with the suicide of their gay son. When they unexpectedly meet their son's lover, they must face a reality that until then has been ignored, and reconcile their feelings and beliefs.

The Dallas concert will feature Peter DiCesare as Andrew, Julie Johnson (fresh off receiving rave reviews as 'Mama' in the national tour of Memphis, and Candide on Broadway) as Ruth, Jason Kane as Alex, and Max Swarner as Marcus.

Resource Center Dallas is a trusted leader that empowers the LGBT community and all people affected by HIV through improving health and wellness, strengthening families and communities, and providing transformative education and advocacy.

FACING EAST is produced by Nathan Gardner, in association with Deborah Barrigan, Sean Bryan, Cat Stevens, and The New Colony.

Tickets will go on sale July 25th. For more information, please visit www.facingeastthemusical.com.
