East Texas Artists To Present COME FIND ME - A Christmas Musical Holiday Concert  Image

A concert reading of COME FIND ME - A CHRISTMAS MUSICAL is coming to UT Tyler's Braithwaite Recital Hall at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 20, 2018. A new musical in development by writers Kelvin and Holly Reed, COME FIND ME - A CHRISTMAS MUSICAL is an endearing musical drama that will warm the hearts of young and old alike.

"As a native East Texan, I'm thrilled to present selections from our show to the Tyler area. We're excited about the future of COME FIND ME and are grateful for the continued support and feedback from our community," said Holly Reed, co-writer of COME FIND ME - A CHRISTMAS MUSICAL.

The evening will feature East Texas performers including Sam St. Amant, Berri Rae Harris, Tony Black, Patti Eden, Tristan Westmoreland, Jordan Boyd, Jinny Jo Harris and Pam Toulouse. The concert will be accompanied by a local musicians Charles Praytor, Phil Rumbley, and Dan Spivey.

COME FIND ME - A CHRISTMAS MUSICAL tells the story of Benjamin Patterson (an autistic ten-year-old), his sister Kami (a pre-med student at Yale University), and their father Harry (a widowed Air Force lieutenant). When Harry is called away on a top-secret military mission just before Christmas, Ben and Kami's already turbulent lives are shaken again. With a wish, a letter, and some unique seasonal help, the Patterson family discovers what just an ounce of belief can do.

COME FIND ME was a finalist in the Battle of the Christmas Musicals in Dansbury, Connecticut in 2017 and has been invited into the Theatre in the Circle's 2019 Cocoon program for new musicals in Cleveland, Ohio.

About Writers Kelvin and Holly Reed:

Holly Reed (Book, Lyrics, Music) is the owner and creative director of Reed Creative Group, an award-winning graphic and web design agency. Holly has enjoyed a lifelong career in vocal performance and musical theatre. Her favorite roles include Nancy (OLIVER) and Corrie ten Boom (THE WEAVING, Regional Premiere). Holly has been featured in video, film and commercials, enjoys performance coaching, and has directed many musicals. Combining her talents, Holly is privileged to be the graphic designer for several Broadway powerhouses, including Tony Award-winning producer Ken Davenport, producer Jordan Scott Gilbert, and Carol de Giere, author of Defying Gravity: The Creative Career of Stephen Schwartz. She also curates the popular online resource MusicalWriters.com and is an Associate Theatre Critic for DFW's The Column. Holly is a member of ASCAP and the Dramatists Guild and is under the coaching of Broadway producer Ken Davenport.

Kelvin Reed (Music) has served as a Music and Worship Pastor for over 25 years. He is currently the Associate Minister of Worship at Green Acres Baptist Church in Tyler, Texas. He is an avid pianist, composer and arranger and has produced several recording projects with various choirs. His choral groups have performed in Chicago, Denver, New Orleans (with Lenny Kravitz), New York City, St. Louis, and Washington, D.C. He has also been music director and accompanist for numerous high school and community theatre productions. Kelvin is from Clearwater, Florida, where he grew up developing a love for music in the church. He received a Bachelor of Music Education at Carson-Newman College in Tennessee and a Master of Arts in Religious Education from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
