Denton Community Theatre is holding auditions for the high energy musical Seven Brides for Seven Brothers Jun. 7-8 beginning at 7 pm at the Campus Theatre, located at 214 W. Hickory St., Denton, Texas.

Directed by Bonnie McCormick with music direction by Christopher Redden, the setting of the Seven Brides for Seven Brothers takes places in 1850 in the state of Oregon where we find six brothers who devise a scheme to kidnap the women they plan to marry. The oldest brother who is already married helps his siblings out.

A heavy snow storm has them all trapped in together for the winter, with the women insisting the men live in the barn. However, by springtime love is in the air with a lovely happy ending.

Auditions are open and no appointment required. Roles are available for 18 men and 9 women (ages vary).

Those auditioning are asked to:

  • Prepare a 16 bar song of your choice (may be from the show but not required)
  • Bring sheet music in your key (an accompanist will be available)
  • Dress for movement (dance will be included in the audition)
  • Prepare for a cold reading from the script
  • Bring headshot/resume if available (not required)

Performances are being held Jul. 31, Aug. 1, 2, 7, 8, & 9 at the Campus Theatre in Denton.
