Community Theatre is excited to present Heathers: The Musical. Co-directed by Brad Speck and Caleb Norris, this wild ride began with over 120 enthusiastic actors turning out for auditions. They had the difficult, but enviable task of selecting the very best for their cast. In addition, the directors are thrilled to have Ray Staniszewski as music director and Amanda Guerroro as choreograper.
Based on the cult classic film of the same name, Heathers is a dark comedy that deals with serious issues of bullying, teen suicide, murder, homophobia, and gun violence. When one student, Veronica, finds herself accepted by the three girls (all named Heather) who rule her high school's top clique, she is thrilled. Unfortunately, she quickly learns that to remain at the top she must become a cruel bully towards the kids she used to consider her friends. When an innocent drink mix-up turns deadly for one of the Heathers, Veronica's new romantic interest, JD, convinces her to stage it as a suicide. The couple is thrilled with a new found power and plan to rid the school of the cruelly popular elite. The rock music score highlights the raw emotion of the teens' experiences. Recommended for mature audiences due to coarse language, violence, adult themes and sexual content.Performances are April 6, 7, 12, 13, 14 at 7:30pm and April 8, 15 at 2:00pm at the Campus Theatre located at 214 W.
