Denton Community Theatre presents their holiday show, A Christmas Story by Philip Grecian, based upon the motion picture A Christmas Story -1983 Turner Entertainment Co., distributed by Warner Bros., written by Jean Shepherd, Leigh Brown and Bob Clark.
Set in Indiana in the 1940's, this memoir of 9-year- old Ralphie Parker follows his quest to get "an official Red Rider carbine-action 200-shot range model air rifle with a compass and this thing that tells time right in the stock" for Christmas. He pleads his well thought out case before his parents, his teacher, and Santa himself. Faithful to the motion picture, the response he keeps getting is, "You'll shoot your eye out." Along the journey,
Ralphie's father dreams of the perfect turkey dinner, his mother coddles his younger
brother, and his friends are "double dog dared" to lick frozen metal posts. It is a nostalgic glimpse into American life leading up to the magical day of the year when packages are left under a tinsel draped tree. This family-friendly production is directed by Richard Dennis and features a talented cast of DCT veterans and newcomers to the Campus stage.
Celebrate the season with Ralphie, his family, and even the school bully in this holiday favorite!
