Denton Community Theatre (DCT) is accepting applications for the Terese Lynn Atkins Scholarship. The scholarship was created in memory of an incredible young woman, "Teri," who generously shared her time and talent with Denton Community Theatre. The scholarship fund was set up by Teri's husband Mark Atkins and her mother Shirley Ottman soon after her death in 1987 to assist college students pursuing a degree in the performing arts.

Applicants must attend either the University of North Texas or Texas Woman's University and be preparing for a theatre related career. Applicants also must have earned at least 20 undergraduate semester credit hours, hold a grade point average of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, and be willing to enroll for at least six hours in each semester (fall and spring) during the upcoming academic year. Scholarships are awarded annually in August and award amounts are up to $1000. The deadline for applications for 2010 is July 1, 2010.

A link to the application and information is available on the Events and Shows page of www.dentoncommunitytheatre.com. DCT encourages all eligible students to apply.

Denton Community Theatre's mission is to contribute to the cultural life of the community through theatrical experiences. Denton Community Theatre, Inc. shall promote education and interest in theatre and the performing arts; and manage and operate the Campus Theatre owned by the Greater Denton Arts Council.
