Dance Council of North Texas (DCNT), in partnership with Dallas Summer Musicals, presents the exciting "before-the-show-show" Tappin' Over Texas-45 minutes of fast-paced, enthusiastic dancing from tappers throughout the Metroplex to warm up the audience for the hit show, Bullets Over Broadway, at the Music Hall in Fair Park.

Tappin' Over Texas was created in honor of National Tap Dance Celebration and DCNT's commitment to preserving, promoting, and celebrating tap dancing as an original, American dance form.

This complimentary pre-show performance for Bullets Over Broadway is an enertainment bonus for audiences on their way into the Music Hall. Some of the most outstanding dance studios from the Metroplex are performing Tuesday through Saturday night.

A special highlight of Tappin' Over Texas is the opportunity to see the amazing talent of this year's DCNT Tap Dance Scholarship recipients. At the close of Tappin' Over Texas, the audience is invited to join dancers on stage and dance The Shim Sham, also known as the "National Anthem of Tap."

Want to learn The Shim Sham? It's fun! DCNT will provide a volunteer to give a refresher rehearsal or teach this traditional dance number to dancers, groups, or a class. For more information, please contact Sherri Wooten at swooten716@hotmail.com.

Sponsors include Heritage Auctions (HA.com), The Downtown Business News, City of Dallas Office of Cultural Affairs, Sandy's Shoes & Dancewear, and Texas Commission on the Arts.
