As pirates say, people are in for some shiver me timbers adventure as Dallas Children's Theater (DCT) steers its vessel toward the world premiere of TREASURE ISLAND Reimagined! on September 23. To get the pirate party started, DCT is putting single tickets on sale with a land ho celebration on this Wednesday, August 1 from 4 to 6PM in its own parking lot. Free Kona Ice snow cones will be given away and Pirate Fred and his personal custom-built masterpiece, The Black Pearl, will be on hand for photo ops and admiring. There will also be giveaways and other fun to help distract the young ones from the hot summer afternoon. DCT hopes everyone will take advantage of this rare opportunity to see Captain Jack's labor of love and enjoy all of the other pirate goings on sittyated in their parking lot on Northwest Highway and Skillman across from Home Depot during this brief window of time. Who knows? They just might see themselves again in some of DCT's promotions.
Friendship, betrayal, and adventure are front and center in this bold world premiere! And Jim Hawkins, Ben Gunn, and Long John Silver will do just about anything to be the first to claim the buried treasure. From the moment you enter the theater, you'll find yourself in the middle of the action. Step into a world of dramatic sword fights, thrilling acrobatics, and magical shadow puppetry as Dallas Children's Theater, Prism Movement Theatre, Kathy Burks Theatre of Puppetry Arts, and Lone Star Circus come together to present a wildly original version of this iconic tale. Grab your costume and come aboard our ship. Your help is needed to decide who gets to take home the gold!
Dallas Children's Theater features professional actors performing for an annual audience of 250,000 young people and their families through mainstage productions (11 in the 2017-18 season), a national -touring company, and an arts-in-education program. As the only major organization in Dallas focusing solely on youth and family theater, DCT builds bridges of understanding between generations and cultures, instilling an early appreciation of literature, art, and the performing arts in tomorrow's artists and patrons.
