Casa Mañana, the largest performing arts organization in Tarrant County, is as proud of its stage productions as it is in producing some of the best talent through its education program. Casa's Performing Arts Conservatory (CPAC) is proud to announce that one of its students, Emma Colwell, was recently accepted into the Texas Young Masters Program.

Ms. Colwell has been a CPAC student since 2012. Currently a junior in high school, she is frequently seen on Casa's stage. Her recent productions include: Snow White and the Prince as "Snow White," Peter Pan as "Wendy", Seussical as a "Bird Girl" and this summer she will be in the Apprentice Program production of Children of Eden. After seeing her potential during class and in productions, she was first introduced to the Young Masters Program by Casa Mañana's Director of Education, Noah Putterman."I am so proud of Emma and love having her as a student," said Putterman. Ms. Colwell was 1 of 15 high school student artists chosen for the Young Masters Program and the only representative chosen for musical theatre out of those 15 students.

The Texas Young Masters Program represents an exciting venture between the Texas Commission on the Arts (TCA) and the Texas Cultural Trust (TCT) to help foster the growth of young artists. The most talented young artists receive the title of 'Young Master' and are awarded grants of $5,000 per year to further their studies in their chosen arts disciplines. The Young Masters Program is the highest performing arts award given to students by the state of Texas. TCT also awards professional artists every two years with the Texas Medal of Arts Award. Casa Manana's own Betty Lynn Buckley was an honoree in 2009.

Tina Colwell, Emma's mother, said of Mr. Putterman, "Your mentorship and opportunities presented by Casa Mañana have played a significant role in her success so far. Your kindness will not be forgotten."
