Casa Mañana kicks off the 2010 - 2011 Broadway at Casa Mañana season with the family-favorite musical, Rodgers & Hammerstein's The Sound of Music, September 11 - 19 at Casa Mañana Theatre. Tickets are on sale now.
 
When Maria proves too high-spirited for the religious life, she is dispatched to serve as governess for the seven children of a widowed naval Captain. Through her music and singing she soon wins the children's trust and their father's affection. Maria and the Captain find themselves falling in love, but world events take precedent as Austria comes under the control of the Nazis.

Casa Mañana's production of The Sound of Music stars Jacquelyn Piro Donovan as "Maria," Patty Goble as "Mother Abbess" and Steve Blanchard as "Captain." Donovan was most recently seen in the national tour of Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas! The Musical. Her other credits include Miss Saigon and Les Misérables on Broadway and the national tours of Big, Sunset Boulevard and The Secret Garden. Goble has been on Broadway for over 20 years and was most recently seen in the revival of Bye Bye Birdie. Her other Broadway credits include the original Broadway production of Curtains starring David Hyde Pierce, The Woman in White, La Cage aux Folles, Kiss Me, Kate and The Phantom of the Opera.

Blanchard holds the distinction of being Broadway's longest running "Beast" in Disney's Beauty and the Beast. His other Broadway credits include Camelot and The Three Musketeers. Casa Mañana's production of The Sound of Music is directed by Alan Coats. His work has been seen at Seattle's 5th Avenue Theater, Houston's Theatre Under the Stars, North Shore Music Theatre, North Carolina Theater, Paper Mill Playhouse, and the Sacramento Music Circus. His acting credits include the Broadway productions of Peter Pan, Crazy For You and Me and My Girl.

Additional cast members include Dennis Yslas as "Max Detweiler," Brian Mathis as "Herr Zeller," Christopher Deaton as "von Schreiber," Deborah Brown as "Frau Schmidt," Diana Sheehan "Elsa Schraeder," Doug LoPachin as "Franz," Mary McElree as "Liesl," Cooper Rodgers as "Friedrich," Caitlin Daniels as "Louisa," Bobby Rochelle as "Curt," Brooke Verbois as "Brigitta," Lauren Magee as "Marta," Cosette Cook as "Gretl" and Tyce Green as "Rolf." Ensemble cast members include Nancy Lamb, Theresa Thompson, Lorena Provencio, Jenny Tucker, Megan Blackmon, Emily Ford, Becky Turner, Sarah Franz, Sarah Comley, Tesia Kwarteng, Jason Kennedy, Brad Stephens, Jeff MacMullen and Justin Rapp. Casa Mañana's production of The Sound of Music is presented for an exclusive limited engagement at Casa Mañana Theatre in Fort Worth. Performance dates are Saturday, September 11 at 2:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.; Sunday, September 12 at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.; Tuesday, September 14 at 7:30 p.m.; Wednesday, September 15 at 7:30 p.m.; Thursday, September 16 at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, September 17 at 8:00 p.m.; Saturday, September 18 at 2:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.; and Sunday September 19 at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.
 
Friday, September 9 is a student preview night with cast talkback following the show; open for students, faculty and staff with valid school ID for $10. Don't miss the September 19th sing-a-long performance at 7:00 p.m. This show is suitable for all audiences.
 
Tickets for The Sound of Music are on sale now and can be purchased by calling the Casa Mañana Theatre box office at 817.332.2272. You can also visit the box office at 3101 West Lancaster Ave., Fort Worth. Ticket prices are $40 to $65, depending upon seating location.
