Black, de Guzman & Heflin Head Alley's 'THE MAN WHO CAME TO DINNER', Performances Begin 2/20

Tony Winner John Rando returns to Houston's Alley Theatre to direct Two-time Tony Nominee Josie de Guzman as Maggie Cutler, Theatre World Award Winner James Black as Sheridan Whiteside and Alley Company Member Elizabeth Heflin as Lorraine Sheldon in Kaufman and Hart's classic comedy The Man Who Came to Dinner, beginning performances on February 20 on the Alley's Hubbard Stage.

De Guzman and Heflin are reunited at the Alley, after appearing opposite each other in David Cromer's Alley production of The Clean House in 2007. Black, also an Alley Company Member, has appeared in over 100 Alley productions, including the premiere of the Trevor Nunn-helmed Not About Nightingales, which premiered at the Alley before going on to Broadway. Black also appeared in Rando's last Alley outing, the premiere of Be My Baby, alongside Hal Holbrook and Dixie Carter.

The design team includes Scenic Design by Alexander Dodge (Broadway's Old Acquaintance), Costume Design by Gregory Gale (Broadway's Rock of Ages, Urinetown, The Wedding Singer, Kevin Kline's Cyrano de Bergerac) and Lighting Design by Pat Collins (Broadway's Grinch, Doubt, Proof).

John Rando's Broadway credits include the Tony Award for Urinetown, The Wedding Singer and Off Broadway's upcoming The Toxic Avenger Musical, in addition to the recent Encores! productions of On the Town and Damn Yankees.

The Man Who Came to Dinner By Moss Hart and George S. Kaufman and Directed by John Rando begins Friday, February 20, Opens Wednesday, February 25 and runs through Sunday, March 22 on the Hubbard Stage.

The Man Who Came to Dinner is followed on the Alley's Hubbard Stage by Scott Schwartz's production of Mauritius in April, and David Cromer's new production of Aaron Sorkin's The Farnsworth Invention, with a new score by Adding Machine's Josh Schmidt, in June. Currently on the Alley's Neuhaus Stage is Eurydice, also with a new Josh Schmidt score, directed by Alley Artistic Director Gregory Boyd, to be followed in April by Tom Stoppard's Rock ‘n' Roll. All five productions feature members of the Alley Resident Company.

Additional cast for The Man Who Came to Dinner features Alley Theatre Resident Company Actors Jeffrey Bean, James Belcher, Bettye Fitzpatrick, Paul Hope, Chris Hutchison, Charles Krohn, Emily Neves, John Tyson and Todd Waite.

Also included in the cast are Marjorie Carroll, Sarah Gaston, Adam N. Gibbs, Kimberly King, Christianne Mays, Kalob Martinez, Justin O'Brien, Spencer Plachy and Anne Quackenbush.
