Broadway's Leading Lady, Mamie Parris will teach and perform with top theatre students in the state of Texas during the annual Texas Thespians State Festival in November. Nearly 8,000 high school theatre students will emerge on Dallas, Texas to attend the Festival. The festival is currently the second largest state gathering of high school theatre students in the United States.
The Texas Thespians organization has recently overcome state and local funding challenges in Music, Arts & Theatre despite a growth in attendance at the festival in the last few years. " Providing life changing performance and educational opportunities for students who dream of a career in the arts is at the cornerstone of our organization." - Matthew Peters, Texas Thespians Organization.
This year the Texas Thespian organization partnered with Adams Davy , the publicity and entertainment firm, to create the The Texas Thespians All State Cast . Students from across the state can audition for this prestigious honor from anywhere in the state using online audition software provided by Audition Magic . This year's inaugural cast of 30 performers includes talented singers and dancers from Houston, Dallas, San Antonio and other Texas cities. They represent numerous High Schools from across the state. One lucky member will have the opportunity to perform on Broadway this summer in New York City.
What makes this so special for Mamie Parris is she attended this conference as a teenager and was motivated and inspired to follow her dreams. "This is so special for me since I grew up in Texas, performing and attending Thespian Festivals. I am so honored to have the opportunity to inspire and motivate young artists, and to show them if you can dream it, you can achieve it!" - Mamie Parris .
The Texas Thespians in association with Adams Davy will be holding a press conference with Mamie Parris on November 18, 2017 at the Gaylord Texan Resort & Conference Center to discuss the importance of Arts Funding in Texas and to inspire other Artists in the professional entertainment industry to participate in the movement.
