Artes de la Rosa is proud to present, as part of their "American Classics" Initiative a new staging of the Stephen Sondheim musical Into the Woods at the historic Rose Marine Theater in Fort Worth Texas. One of Sondheim's most popular works, The Brothers Grimm hit the musical stage with an epic fairytale where worlds collide and wishes come true. James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim take everyone's favorite storybook characters and bring them together for a timeless yet relevant modern classic that explores what it means to be a family. Featuring a live orchestra and an exciting new take on the material, Into the Woods opens with a Gala Opening Night event on February 22nd and runs through March 16th. The production runs 2 hours and 30 minutes with a 15 minute intermission.

"It's important to remember one of the most exciting phrases to hear ever in story telling is, "Once Upon a Time". It unleashes our imagination and provides us with endless possibilities. Theatre at its base level is simple storytelling so it makes wonderful sense to pair fairytales in a musical theatre setting. Ultimately our production uses that idea of theatre as storytelling to reexplore the beauty, magic, and danger of going into the woods." - Adam Adolfo, Artistic Director

Taking center stage of this fairy tale epic are many alumni from Artes de la Rosa's critically acclaimed production of the Tony Award Winning musical In the Heights. Starring as the Witch is Amanda Williams Ware, Joshua Sherman as The Baker, Natalie Coca as Cinderella, Aigner Mathis as Milky White, Sarah Maria Dickerson as Rapunzel, Pamela Langton as Jack's Mother and Jeremy Coca as Jack (of "..and the Beanstalk" fame). Making their Artes de la Rosa debut in Into the Woods are Alden Bower Price as the Baker's Wife, Taylor Wallis as Little Red Riddinghood, with Simone Gundy and Cristina White as Cinderella's Ugly Stepsisters, Lucinda & Florinda. Kyle Lester and Georgia Fender take the stage as a set of hunting wolves while doubling as the Steward and Giantess respectively. Fort Worth ISD Theatre Teacher Clyde Berry takes on the role of The Mysterious Man while Danielle Reboli takes on the role of Cinderella's Wicked Stepmother. Both are returning to the Rose Marine stage after being seen in Romeo & Juliet and Kiss of the Spiderwoman. Rounding out the cast making their Artes de la Rosa stage debut as a set of royal heartthrob princes are James Worley (Cinderella's Prince) and Anthony Coca (Rapunzel's Prince). Directed and Choreographed by Artes de la Rosa Artistic Director Adam Adolfo Into the Woods has Musical Direction by Texas Wesleyan Adjunct Professor of Voice Kristin Spires. The Scenic Design is by Sarahi Salazar and Costumes and Wigs are by Marcus Lopez, both their work was featured in Artes de la Rosa's In the Heights and Romeo & Juliet. Juan Gonzalez serves as Lighting Designer for the musical with Mark Howard Sound Designing.
