Amphibian Stage Productions (Kathleen Culebro, Artistic Director) will show a film of the National Theatre's production of Hamlet by William Shakespeare, starring Benedict Cumberbatch. Back by popular demand, screenings will be on Wednesday, April 6 at 11am and 7pm, and Saturday, April 9 at 1pm in partnership with the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth. This will be the fourth National Theatre Live screening of Amphibian's 2016 season.
Distributed internationally by BY Experience, National Theatre Live is an initiative to broadcast live performances from the National Theatre?s stages to cinemas worldwide. In Fort Worth, the screenings are presented exclusively at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, courtesy of Amphibian Stage Productions. Fort Worth screenings of National Theatre Live began in the fall of 2011.
Academy Award nominee Benedict Cumberbatch (BBC?s?Sherlock,?The Imitation Game,?Frankenstein?at the National Theatre) takes on the title role of Shakespeare?s great tragedy. Directed by Lyndsey Turner (Posh,?Chimerica) and produced by Sonia Friedman Productions, National Theatre Live will broadcast this eagerly awaited production live to cinemas.
As a country arms itself for war, a family tears itself apart. Forced to avenge his father?s death but paralyzed by the task ahead, Hamlet rages against the impossibility of his predicament, threatening both his sanity and the security of the state.
Hamlet will screen on Wednesday, April 6 at 11am and 7pm, and Saturday, April 9 at 1pm at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth. Tickets to National Theatre Live broadcasts are $20. Discounts are available for seniors, students, members of Amphibian Stage Productions and the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, and groups of 10 or more.
