The Amarillo Symphony Guild is hosting the second annual Music is Monumental Luncheon on Wednesday, November 2nd from 11:45-1:00 in the Great Hall at Polk Street United Methodist Church. The purpose of Music is Monumental is to give the community the chance to recognize and support the impact music educators have on area students. Young musicians, being nurtured and inspired through the four educational projects of the Amarillo Symphony and the Amarillo Symphony Guild, will perform as part of the event. Katy Moore, a music educator and member of the Amarillo Symphony, will be the featured speaker. Music has a tremendous impact on all our lives. The Amarillo Symphony and the Guild want to insure that every child in the Amarillo area has the opportunity to experience the uplifting power of orchestral music.

Amarillo Symphony musicians visit more than 40 classrooms annually introducing 3rd graders to the instruments in the orchestra by playing familiar tunes and seasonal songs. They create fun, interactive experiences in the classrooms hoping to stimulate student interest in learning to play an instrument. The Amarillo Symphony Youth Orchestra provides musicians ages 8 to 19 opportunities to develop their performance skills in two concerts each season. And for any gifted, young musician needing financial assistance to receive private music lessons, the Guild accepts applications for monetary help through the Young Artist Project.

All of these projects need financial support in order to ensure continued success. Anyone wishing to attend the Luncheon, may sponsor a table for eight people for $250 or individual tickets are available for $25 each. Please contact the Amarillo Symphony at 376-8782 for more information.
