Alley Theatre Managing Director Dean R. Gladden announced today the appointment of Nancy Giles as the new Development Director of Houston's Alley Theatre. Giles, the former Vice President/Chief Development Officer of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Houston for the past 2 years, assumed the position on September 28.

"With over a dozen years of experience fundraising for a Houston performing arts company plus her experience leading development departments of other firms, Nancy brings an invaluable wealth of knowledge to the position. We are fortunate to welcome Nancy onto our senior management team, and I am thrilled to be working with her" said Managing Director Dean R. Gladden.

Giles will be responsible for leading a staff of development professionals in a coordinated effort to raise contributed revenue and be principally responsible for articulating, planning and overseeing the implementation of a strategic direction for the development department while playing a critical role in developing prospect cultivation and solicitation strategies.

"Over the years I have enjoyed attending performances at Alley and have sincerely enjoyed the exciting work of this tremendous Company," said Nancy Giles. "Alley Theatre is one of the nation's great theatres, and I am honored to be joining Dean Gladden, Gregory Boyd, and the rest of the leadership team." said Giles.

Giles' career in the non-profit sector spans over 15 years. At the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Houston she was responsible for revenue generation, marketing, partnerships and volunteer recruitment, increasing the board revenue by more than 15% in 2008. Prior to joining Big Brother Big Sisters, Giles was with the Houston Symphony for 10 years serving in a number of development positions including Director of Development. As Director of Development Giles was responsible for a $9 million dollar annual fund goal and assisted with strategy and volunteer management for the $75 million dollar Capital Campaign. She also held the position as Director of Development at the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra. Giles holds a B.A. from the University of Houston in Political Science and a Post-Baccalaureate in Public Administration.
