Allen's Community Theatre Presents STEEL MAGNOLIAS Image

Take equal parts sweet tea, shades of pink, wisecracks, and laughter-through-tears and you have the tour de force that is Allen's Community Theatre next production Steel Magnolias. Performances are January 19- February 4, 2018; Thursdays at 7:30pm, Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm and Sundays at 3pm.

Set in a small town in Louisiana, in the time of really big hair, six women gather in Truvy's beauty shop for gossip, friendship, and support. These women are true steel magnolias: southern belles who are flowery on the outside, but tough as steel inside. The play is alternately hilarious and touching as it moves from the excitement of Shelby's wedding to sadness as friends mourn her loss.

Oscar nominated and Golden Globe winner, Steel Magnolias was written by Richard Harling, as a tribute to his sister, his mother and the women that surrounded them. It is the next production of the ACT 2017-18 season, "Spotlight on HER", plays that are starring, written by or directed by women.
