Dallas Summer Musicals, which is now featuring WICKED at its Music Hall at Fair Park, celebrated its 75th Anniversary last season, and Michael A. Jenkins has been around for most of them.
"My mother loved the theater," he tells the Dallas Morning News. "She took me to all the shows when I was really too small to go and I would sit, mesmerized. Then we would talk about the show afterward for days. That was really important for our little family."
So it was quite a dream come true for the now 74-year-old Jenkins to be named the non-profit theatre company's president and managing director in 1994, with a contract extending into January of 2017.
But this morning it has been confirmed by the theatre board's public relations specialist that Jenkins "is no longer the president and managing director at Dallas Summer Musicals."
A press release was then distributed announcing the hiring of interim managing director David Hyslop, calling the change the beginning of "a new generation of leadership."
