Dallas Comedy House is proud to announce the premiere of A BRIEF ENDLESS LOVE, by Matt Lyle, opening June 2nd. Reviewing press are invited to attend the show on June 2nd at 9:00 p.m. at the Dallas Comedy House Mainstage Theater - 3025 Main St • Dallas, TX. Arrangements can made for other dates.

From the writer of BARBECUE APOCALYPSE, HELLO HUMAN FEMALE and THE BOXER, A BRIEF, ENDLESS LOVE explores the indescribable joy, pain and fear of loving and being loved. From frightened new parents bringing their baby home for the first time, to two loveless strangers meeting on a ledge in the nick of time, to a story about a highly unorthodox orgy, to Thomas Jefferson's anatomically correct first draft of The Declaration of Independence, to adult siblings whose short attention spans make mourning their parents' unusually difficult, in A BRIEF, ENDLESS LOVE Lyle deftly weaves eccentric, irreverent tales rife with wit and compassion. A hilariously bittersweet song, "This Seat is Saved (I'm Not Alone)" by actor/musician Jim Keunzer is a cherry on top.

Dallas Comedy House (DCH) was founded in 2009 and has a strong following with what DCH Artistic Director affectionately refers to as "comedy nerds" but in partnering with Lyle, Austin seeks a crossover between the comedy and theater communities in Dallas. "Merging the theater scene with the comedy scene in Dallas only makes everyone stronger, on and off stage. I'm excited to see what kind of projects unfold as a result of these newfound collaborations. I hope it also opens the doors for other actors in the Dallas area to see DCH as a place to write, perform and direct comedy," she said.

Lyle, a graduate of the writing program at Chicago's legendary Second City, feels the connection between sketch comedy and theater is a close one. "A great sketch has all of the same elements of a great play or movie: strong characters who you care about, snappy dialogue, and a story that affects you," he said.

Lauded for his "wildly funny imagination" by the Dallas Observer, Lyle's writing often feature themes of family, childhood, and love. A BRIEF, ENDLESS LOVE continues those themes on a winding path from birth to death. "Love is at the core of what it means to be human. Whether you feel loved or you don't means everything. I feel like, at this point in my life, I have a lot of painfully honest things to say on the subject. Usually, the more honest and painful, the funnier it is," Lyle said.

A BRIEF, ENDLESS LOVE reunites Lyle with frequent collaborators and adds in one of DFW's funniest actresses. Jeff Swearingen, a six-time Best of Dallas honoree and Dallas Observer Mastermind Award-winner, has created roles in THE BOXER, HELLO HUMAN FEMALE and BARBECUE APOCALYPSE. Kim Lyle and Jeremy Whiteker are founding members of Lyle's Bootstraps Comedy Theater. Whiteker also won rave reviews as Mother in Lyle's HELLO HUMAN FEMALE. Steph Garett is an actor, a puppeteer, a teaching artist and a therapeutic clown. Of his cast, Lyle says, "For years, Jeff, Kim, and Jeremy have been able to take my words and make them funnier than I ever thought they could be. This will be my first time working with Steph, but from the moment I saw her as a possessed little girl in The Drama Club's incredible FAUST last year, I knew she was someone I wanted to write for. I was blown away."

DCH's prime location in the heart of Deep Ellum provides a fitting backdrop for late-night laughs. Through neighborhood highs and lows, Deep Ellum has long supported live performance by local artists. "It's a community driven and supported neighborhood, and I feel that's what makes it so appealing for artists. Artists tend to gravitate to communities that support each other, and Deep Ellum is kind of crushing it right now," Austin said.
