Fort Wayne Civic Theatre hosts second auditions for The Farnsworth Invention by Aaron Sorkin.

The Farnsworth Invention: A Civic Off-Main Production at the Allen County Public Library Downtown
Two ambitious visionaries battle each other for the rights to one of the greatest inventions of all time. Through corporate espionage, family tragedy, and financial disaster, Philo T. Farnsworth and David Sarnoff race towards becoming the acknowledged inventor of the television. Farnsworth, a Midwestern farm boy and Sarnoff, head of RCA vie for the prize in this play written by Aaron Sorkin, the creator of The West Wing, and A Few Good Men.

Auditions: Sunday, January 15 at 2:00 p.m.- East Rehearsal Hall of the Arts United Center, 303 E. Main St.

Rehearsals: Mon.-Fri., February 27-March 29 @ Plymouth Congregational Church, 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.
Performances: Opening Night is on Friday, March 30th w/ performance thru April 15th (3 weekends)
NOTE: There will not be a performance on Easter Sunday.
Performance Times: Fridays & Saturdays @ 8 p.m., (7:00 call time), and Sundays @ 2 p.m. (1:00 call time) (Brush up Rehearsals on Thursdays April 5 & 12 - 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.)
Please arrive early to check in and fill out the audition forms. Please call Phillip Colglazier, Executive/Artistic Director, to sign up to audition (260-422-8641 x 225). Scripts may be signed out with a refundable $10 deposit.

CHARACTERS: We encourage actors of all ethnicities to audition. There are about 60 speaking parts (more than are listed below), plus crowd scenes and other dialogue. With the exception of several male leads, every performer will play multiple roles. Some redistribution of roles may be possible. The + others indicates how many other roles this actor will play. The last number in parentheses indicates the number of SCENES in which each actor appears.
Actor 40s-50s: David Sarnoff The first media mogul. Smart, relentless, savvy. Appears confident & determined. (almost all scenes)
Actor 30s-40s: PHILO T FARNSWORTH The last lone inventor. Even smarter, equally relentless but not as savvy. Appears distracted. (almost all scenes)
Actress 30s-40s: LIZETTE (Sarnoff’s elegant French wife), Mary Pickford (the movie star, a potential investor) (6)
Actress, 20s-30s: PEM FARNSWORTH (Philo’s wife, loving and down-to-earth) (8)
Actor 40s-60s: WILLIAM CROCKER (Farnsworth’s main investor, a father figure) + 4 others (12)
Actor 20s-30s: CLIFF GARDNER (Pem’s brother) +5 others (13)
Actor 30s-50s: ATKINS (Crocker’s assistant), WALTER GIFFORD (a crass radio station owner), Douglas Fairbanks (the movie star, a potential investor) + 4 others (13)

Actor 40s-60s: George EversON (a Farnsworth investor, more trusting than his partner Gorrell) (11)
