Casa Mañana's 2013-2014 Broadway season is filled with audience favorites and hometown connections. The season kicks off with the classic Big River: The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn with a score penned by Fort Worth native, Roger Miller, September 21-29, 2013; continues with the regional premiere of Oswald: The Actual Interrogation in conjunction with the 50th anniversary of the assassination of President JFK, November 9-17, 2013; the mega-hit musical, Cats, March 1-9, 2014; and concludes with a Fort Worth favorite, Always... Patsy Cline, May 31-June 9, 2014. Included in your subscription is the Apprentice Program's production of Side Show, July 26-28, 2013 and an original concert, Bad Boys of Broadway: In Concert featuring all your favorite villainous songs from your favorite Broadway shows, January 10-12, 2014. Subscribers will have the opportunity to add on the hilarious Red, White and Tuna, featuring the eccentric cast of characters from small-town Tuna, Texas, August 22-25, 2013.
Join Huckleberry Finn and his friend Jim, a runaway slave, in an adventure down the Mighty Mississippi in Big River: The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, based on the 1884 Mark Twain novel, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. This Tony Award-winning score from Fort Worth native, Roger Miller features such classics as "Waitin' For The Light To Shine," "Muddy Water" and "River in the Rain." Our limited engagement of Big River will feature Jaston Williams, of "Greater Tuna" fame as "The Duke." This show is suitable for most audiences.
In November we stage the regional premiere of Oswald: The Actual Interrogation, a compelling new play by Dennis Richard that delves into the history and controversy surrounding the 48 hours Lee Harvey Oswald was in the custody of the Dallas Police Department after the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. Given the 50th anniversary of the assassination of JFK and Oswald's close ties to Fort Worth, this is sure to be a major event in our city's history. This show is suitable for mature audiences only.
One of the longest running musicals in Broadway history, CATS has become a phenomenon unparalleled by any other show. Based on T.S. Elliot's collection of stories, Old Possum's Book for Practical Cats, this Andrew Lloyd Webber classic has been thrilling audiences for almost 30 years. Fort Worth native and Casa Mañana alumna- Betty Lynn Buckley won the Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical for her portrayal of Grizabella, the Glamour Cat in the original Broadway production. This show is suitable for most audiences.
Back by popular demand, Always...Patsy Cline. Based on the true story of Patsy's friendship with her most devoted fan, Louise Segar, this show chronicles the friendship which began when the two met in Houston. Over a pot of strong coffee, this unlikely pair of women became best friends and kept in touch until Patsy's untimely death. Boasting a score of your favorite Patsy Cline songs like "Anytime," "Walkin' After Midnight" and "Crazy," this country music legend's story will once again fill the dome with music and laughter. This show is suitable for most audiences.
