SCHUMANN: Piano Trio No. 2 in F major, Op. 80
DVORÁK: Piano Trio in E minor, Op. 90 “Dumky”
BRAHMS: Piano Trio No. 2 in C major, Op. 87
Following the release of its recording of the three Brahms piano trios in spring 2015 which the New York Times called “an excellent set,” the Tetzlaff Trio offers an evening of Romantic chamber repertoire.
Starting off the program is Schumann’s energetic Piano Trio No. 2, followed by Dvorák’s folksong-inspired “Dumky,” a work expressing an expansive range of moods from mournful to effervescent. Closing the program is Brahms’ Piano Trio No. 2 with its sublime lyricism, gypsy/Hungarian theme, eerie scherzo and lively, joyous finale.
