Tony-Winning Musical INTO THE WOODS to Open 4/8 at CSU Fullerton

Cal State Fullerton's production of Into the Woods (music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim with book by James Lapine) is directed by Eve Himmelheber with musical direction by Mitchell Hanlon and runs April 8-April 24 in the Little Theatre on campus.

Into the Woods had its world premiere at the Old Globe Theatre in San Diego in 1986 under the direction of James Lapine. The musical made its Broadway premiere at the Martin Beck Theatre in 1987 where it ran for two years. Into the Woods features Little Red Riding Hood, Cinderella, The Baker's Wife and other fairytale favorites with mature themes and plot twists.

Award-winning composer and lyricist Stephen Sondheim has been active in the musical theatre world since 1954. He has received numerous awards including an Academy Award, a Pulitzer Prize, eight Tony awards, and the Laurence Olivier Award. He has written over seventeen musicals throughout his career including A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Company, Follies and Sweeney Todd.

Professional director Eve Himmelheber has also performed professionally across the nation, at venues including regional theatre, civic light opera, at the Kennedy Center, the Greek Theatre and the Hollywood Bowl. She has been honored with both Los Angeles Times and OC Weekly "Critic's Picks." Her recent CSU Fullerton credits include Legally Blonde and The Comedy of Errors.

The cast of Into the Woods includes Aaron Ford as the Narrator/Mysterious Man, Lily Bryson as Cinderella, Spencer Ty Pierson as Jack, Matt Dunn as Baker, Elyssa Alexander as Baker's Wife, Katie Lee as Cinderella's Step Mother, Kristina Dizon as Florinda, Erin Tierney as Lucinda, Alli Schynert as Jack's Mother/Grandmother, Hannah Clair as Little Red Riding Hood, Allison J. Parker as Witch, Brian Gonzalez as Cinderella's Father, Kelly Rosales as Cinderella's Mother/Snow White, Kyle Pazdel as Wolf, Elizabeth Campbell as Rapunzel, Joe Stein as Rapunzel's Prince, Marqell Edward Clayton as Cinderella's Prince, Matthew Ollson as Steward and Kiana Hamzehi as Sleeping Beauty.

Scenic Design is by Mauri Anne Smith and Ashley Strain, Lighting Design is by Ben Hawkins, Costume Design is by Michelle Kincaid, Sound Design is by Devon Swiger and Hair/ Makeup Design is by Chauna Goldberg.

Into the Woods plays at 8pm on April 8, 9, 14, 15, 16, 21, 22, 23 and at 2pm on April 10, 16, 17, 23, 24. General admission tickets are $22 ($24 with advance Titan Discount purchase for students, seniors or with a CSUF ID). All tickets are $24 at the door.
