Segerstrom Center for the Arts is offering local high school students the opportunity to participate in Broadway Saturdays, a new musical theater program taking place over three Saturdays in February (12, 19 and 26) on Segerstrom Center's multidisciplinary campus. Students will learn musical theater techniques and repertoire from Tony® Award-nominated actress Erin Dilly and Broadway stage veteran Stephen Buntrock.

Broadway Saturdays is a three-part intensive program that will focus on musical theater performance, lyric analysis, monologue interpretation, improvisation, audition technique and acting scene work. The final Saturday class will include a Q&A session for students to learn more about the industry from Dilly and Buntrock, two respected Broadway professionals with 20 years of stage and film experience between them. Additionally, Dilly and Buntrock hope the classes will help students unlock a sense of true joy and discovery in their work.

Segerstrom Center President Terry Dwyer said, "Musical theater and Broadway shows are a prominent part of the Center's artistic profile. We already offer two very popular series each year, the Broadway Series and Curtain Call Series, and we hope to expand this offering in the future. We look forward to opportunities to invite our audiences into the creative process for new works by producing more developmental workshops of musicals like The Unauthorized Autobiography of Samantha Brown. And, as a complement to our presentation of national touring companies, we have established two programs which provide talented young local artists, at the earliest stages of their careers, the opportunity to work with and learn from top professionals in the industry."

Developed by the Segerstrom Center's Education and Community Programs Department, Broadway Saturdays is open to all students ages 14 - 22. The program will take place from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on February 12, 19 and 26 in Segerstrom Center's studio performance space in the Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall. The cost of the program is $250. For more information or to register for Broadway Saturdays, please visit SCFTA.org/education e-mail masters@SCFTA.org or call (714) 556-2122 ext. 4333, Option 2.
