The play features Moxie Theatre co-founder Jo Anne Glover as Alma and new NVA Ensemble member John DeCarlo as Dr. John Buchanan with Ensemble members Dana Case and Jack Missett as Alma's parents, and a cast of fourteen bringing this thrilling play to life. The production will be playing at New Village Arts Theatre (2787 State Street, Carlsbad Village) from May 27 - June 20, 2010. The official opening night is May 29 at 8 PM. Tickets can be purchased at www.NewVillageArts.org or by calling 760-433-3245.

A steamy and poetic American classic by Tennessee Williams, SUMMER AND SMOKE tells the story of Alma (Jo Anne Glover), a minister's daughter, and John (John DeCarlo), the hedonistic doctor next door. In her search for spirituality and lasting love, Alma is confronted with John's need for sensual fulfillment. Their turbulent relationship becomes an emotional battle of wills that alters each of them irrevocably. Riveting and intense, this masterpiece takes the audience through the heart of a Mississippi summer.

Tennessee Williams, dramatist and fiction writer, is one of the greatest playwrights in American history. He is best known for his powerful plays A Streetcar Named Desire and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.
