The Maverick Theater brings back to the stage, for the fifth year in a row, their original stage adaptation of Ed Wood's 1959 film, Plan 9 From Outer Space. Consider by most film buffs as the worst movie ever made. "With its incoherent plot, jaw-droppingly odd dialogue, inept acting, threadbare production design, and special effects so shoddy that they border on the surreal. Plan 9 From Outer Space is an oddly endearing disaster; boasting genuine enthusiasm and undeniable charm, it is the work of people who loved movies and loved making them, even if they displayed little visible talent." -Rotten Tomatoes.com
Using a large rear screen, the theater's special effects department known as Maverick Light & Magic, project live miniature sets behind each scene. They call this theatrical experience "Staged Cinema Scope". An effect that trills audiences as actors walk in place while graveyards creep by and flying saucers dangle over the Hollywood skyline.
With a tongue-in-cheek approach to the dialogue the cast rides out the storyline like a pilot in a hurricane. We guarantee there is no other theater around gutsy enough or stupid enough to take on this project.
