The Laguna Playhouse Executive and Artistic Directors, Karen Wood and Ann E. Wareham kick off the New Year with the legendary songs of that legendary man in black, RING OF FIRE, The Music of Johnny Cash, with choreography by Paula Hammons Sloan and musical direction and direction by Steve Steiner.

"What better way to begin 2014 than to offer our subscribers and audiences a musical tribute to an American Icon," offers Wood. "Who doesn't love such classics as "I've Been Everywhere," "I Walk The Line" and so many more! A fascinating look at a fascinating man." "With thirty extraordinary songs performed by a talented cast of 10, this "Ring" starts our new year off 'On Fire,'" adds Wareham.

RING OF FIRE will begin previews on Tuesday, January 7 and will open on Saturday, January 11 at 7:30pm and run through Sunday, February 2, 2014 at the Laguna Playhouse, 606 Laguna Canyon Road in Laguna Beach.

There's a little Johnny Cash in everyone, which is one reason why his music has transcended decades and America has lifted him up to the iconic status that he has become. RING OF FIRE features a talented company of 10 performers who will guide you on a journey through Cash's storied life and celebrated music, from the cotton fields of Arkansas to the Grand Ole Opry. Nearly eleven years after his passing, Johnny Cash remains one of the most popular entertainers of all time.

His success is incomparable - 11 Grammy Awards (including the 1999 Lifetime Achievement Grammy), inductions into the Country Music Hall of Fame and the Rock Music Hall of Fame, and a Kennedy Center Honor. He has placed 48 singles on the Billboard Hot 100 Pop charts and over 130 hits on the Billboard Country singles chart - more than anyone in history. His autobiography, "Man in Black," has sold approximately 1.5 million copies, and the official Johnny Cash website, www.johnnycash.com, receives more than 9 million hits per day.
