LA MIRADA THEATRE FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS presents the fourth production in its innovative and award-winning ONSTAGE Series with the Tony award-winning rock musical, AMERICAN IDIOT, music by Green Day, lyrics by Billie Joe Armstrong, book by Billie Joe Armstrong and Michael Mayer, musical direction by David O, choreography by Dana Solimando and directed by Brian Kite. AMERICAN IDIOT will preview on Friday, April 29 (with a press opening on Saturday, April 30 at 8pm) and will run through Sunday, May 15 - ONSTAGE at LA MIRADA THEATRE FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS, 14900 La Mirada Blvd. in La Mirada.

The groundbreaking Broadway musical! Green Day's powerhouse album is brought to life in this electric-rock musical of youthful disillusion. The two-time Tony Award-winning hit musical AMERICAN IDIOT, based on Green Day's Grammy Award-winning multi-platinum album, boldly takes the American musical where it's never gone before. This

high-octane show includes every song from Green Day's album American Idiot, as well as several songs from follow-up release,21st Century Breakdown. Content Warning: AMERICAN IDIOT contains adult content and strong language. For mature audiences.

ABOUT THE CREATIVE TEAM

BRIAN KITE (Director) is the Chair of the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television Department of Theater and has directed across the United States and abroad. His La Mirada Theatre/McCoy Rigby Entertainment directing credits include their critically acclaimed productions of Billy Elliot, LES MISERABLES, Miss Saigon, Little Shop of Horrors, Dinner With Friends, Steel Magnolias,starring Cathy Rigby, Driving Miss Daisy starring Michael Learned, and David Auburn's Proof. He is the recipient of the 2013 Los Angeles Ovation Award for Best Direction of a Musical for his production of Spring Awakening. He directed the National Tours ofIn the Heat of the Night and The Graduate for LA Theatre Works and he staged the first production of Miss Saigon to ever play in China when his show closed the Macau International Music Festival. He directed Top Secret: The Battle for the Pentagon Papers, starring Margaret Colin, which toured throughout mainland China. The production was the first U.S. production of a play at Beijing's National Center for the Performing Arts (NCPA). Prior to that, he helmed a production of Cabaret in Bermuda under the patronage of the Queen's Governor and directed Tennessee Williams' The Glass Menagerie at The Actors Co-op in Hollywood. Other recent credits include a new live recording of American Buffalo, two Los Angeles revivals, J.B. by Archibald MacLeish and The Crucible by Arthur Miller, as well as the West Coast premiere of Václav Havel's The Beggar's Opera. He directed the Philadelphia production of Glenn Wein's Grandma Sylvia's Funeral and worked with Tony Award-winning director Daniel Sullivan on The Geffen Playhouse's production of Hedda Gabler starring Annette Bening. He directed over 20 productions at French Woods Festival in New York where he was the Director of Theater Programs for over seven years. Brian serves as the Chair of the LA Stage Alliance's Board of Governors and is the Artistic Director of the award-winning Buffalo Nights Theatre Company.

DAVID O (Musical Direction) is a music-theatre artist who specializes in contemporary music for the stage and concert hall. Compositions include the Ovation Award-winning score for Ubu Roi (A Noise Within) and the choral piece "A Map of Los Angeles" (LA Master Chorale). Musical Direction credits include the world premieres of 13 (Mark Taper Forum) and Toy Story: the Musical (Disney Creative Entertainment), and the West Coast premieres of (LaChiusa's) The Wild Party, Little Fish, and See What I Wanna See (The Blank Theatre). Film compositions include the score for the documentary "Bronies: the Completely Unexpected Adult Fans of My Little Pony." This is David's fourth production at La Mirada - previous credits here include musically directing The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Little Shop of Horrors, and Floyd Collins (recipient of LADCC Award for Musical Direction). David is the ongoing Music Supervisor for the new musical "Home Street Home."

DANA SOLIMANDO (Choreography) choreographed the acclaimed Onstage production of Spring Awakening in 2013. Most recent LMT/MRE credits include: Rent and Billy Elliot (2015 LADCC Award nomination). Other favorites: Ragtime (2015 Ovation Award Nomination), Parade (2103 Ovation Nom), Damn Yankees (2014 Ovation Nom), The Addam's Family, Hairspray, All Shook Up, Swing! (2004 and 2006 L.A. Stage Alliance Ovation awards- Best Choreography). Miss Saigon at the Macau International Arts Festival/MRE (2012 Ovation nom), Jesus Christ Superstar national tour (NAACP Theatre Award nomination). Hair, La Cage Aux Folles, and The Wizard of Oz (Sacramento Music Circus), Little Miss Scrooge (world premiere), Little Shop of Horrors and Buddy. Dana is also co-writer/director/choreographer for MAESTRO and Route 66 on Crystal Cruises and director/choreographer for the world premier/national tour of Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer The Musical.

BILLIE JOE ARMSTONG (Book, Music & Lyrics) Frontman of the rock band Green Day, came of age in the underground punk scene in Berkeley. Green Day's albums include 1039/Smooth Out Slappy Hours; Kerplunk; 1994's Dookie, which sold 15 million copies and garnered their first Grammy (and inspired a raft of imitators); Insomniac; Nimrod; Warning; 2004's landmark American Idiot, which debuted at #1 on the Billboard chart, spawned five hit singles, and earned seven Grammy nominations (winning two, including Best Rock Album); 21st Century Breakdown (Grammy Award, Best Rock Album); and 2012's consecutively released ¡Uno!, ¡Dos!, and ¡Tré! (as well as the behind the scenes DVD,¡Cuatro!). Last year, Armstrong and Norah Jones released Foreverly, a tribute to the Everly Brothers' 1958 Songs Our Daddy Taught Us.The Tony and Grammy winning musical American Idiot, featuring lyrics by Armstrong, music by Green Day, and a book written by Armstrong and directorMichael Mayer, opened on Broadway in 2010. Throughout its run, he made cameo appearances in the role of St. Jimmy. The recent documentary, Broadway Idiot, chronicles his road to the Great White Way. Armstrong also composed the music for These Paper Bullets currently being staged at the Yale Repertory Theatre. His other film and TV credits include "This is 40," "Nurse Jackie," and the upcoming feature film, "Like Sunday, Like Rain."

GREEN DAY (Music) Vocalist/guitarist BILLIE JOE ARMSTRONG bassist MIKE DIRNT, and drummer TRÉ COOL - were kids from working-class backgrounds who came of age in the underground punk scene in Berkeley. Even though they had released two records prior (1039 / Smoothed Out Slappy Hours and Kerplunk), they announced their arrival with 1994's Dookie, a dynamic blast of exuberant punk-pop that sold 15 million copies and earned the band its first Grammy® Award for Best Alternative Music Performance. Over the years, Green Day continued to top the charts with their subsequent studio albums Insomniac, Nimrod and Warning, while entertaining millions of fans with their frenetic live shows. But it was their landmark 2004 album American Idiot that launched Green Day into the stratosphere. American Idiot debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard chart, spawned five hit singles, earned seven Grammy® nominations (winning two, including Best Rock Album), and raised the bar for modern rock and roll. In 2009, Green Day released 21st Century Breakdown, which won the 2010 Grammy® Award for Best Rock Album. It spawned two hit singles: the gold "Know Your Enemy," which was the first song ever to top Billboard's Rock, Alternative, and Mainstream Rock charts simultaneously, and the double-platinum "21 Guns," which earned them three 2009 MTV Video Music Awards including Best Rock Video. Green Day also took home an American Music Award for Favorite Alternative Rock Music Artist. Later that year, Green Day collaborated with Tony Award winning director of Spring Awakening, Michael Mayer, for the stage musical of American Idiot. The play bowed at the Berkeley Repertory Theatre in September 2009 and set attendance records during its limited engagement. The play went on to Broadway and ran for a year at the St. James Theatre and won two Tony Awards Green Day's highly anticipated album trilogy kicked off with the release of Green Day ¡Uno!, (September 25, 2012) followed by Green Day ¡Dos! (November 13th), and Green Day ¡Tré! (December 11th). The band recently completed the Soundwave Festival in Australia.

MICHAEL MAYER (Book) made his Metropolitan Opera debut with a celebrated new production of Rigoletto. AMERICAN IDIOT will preview on Friday, April 29 and will open on Saturday, April 30 and run through Sunday, May 15, 2016 at LA MIRADA THEATRE FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS, 14900 La Mirada Blvd. in La Mirada.

Performances are: Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Thursdays at 7:30pm; Fridays at 8:00pm; Saturdays at 2:00pm & 8:00pm; and Sundays at 2:00pm & 7:00pm. PLEASE NOTE: There will be a late night performance on Friday, May 13 at 11:00pm; there is no performance on Sunday, May 15 at 7:00pm.
