"Let us entertain you..." with Jule Styne and Stehpen Sondheim's musical fable of a determined mother living her life vicariously through her children. This American saga puts Madame Rose center stage as a fearless and endlessly resourceful stage mother determined to survive The Depression by pushing her daughters into the spotlight. Based on the hilarious and heartbreaking memoirs of stripper Gypsy Rose Lee, this musical includes classic Broadway tunes "Let Me Entertain You," "All I need is the Girl," "You Gotta Get a Gimmick" and Everything's Coming Up Roses."
A CCCT favorite for decades, this production will feature 30 amazingly talented performers from ages 6 to 60, a five piece band and a score that is considered by most to be one of the top 10 greatest American musicals of all time!
Director Daren A.C. Carollo said he had no hesitation pitching this show even though it has been performed twice already on the CCCT stage, "It is a chestnut that is still relevant today. These characters still exist." Carollo loves working with children "because they are sponges!" He is also a strong advocate of fostering creativity in young people through theatre. Many of the young performers in this production are from CCCT's childeren's program, Live at CCCT.
The set for CCCT's Gypsy is designed by Colin Babcock and built by Henry Perkins. Lighting design is by Adam Fry and sound is by Travis Rexroat. Lisa Danz is the costume designer and props are by
