The McCallum Theatre presents Bernadette Peters, with Musical Director Marvin Laird, on Saturday, February 4, at 8:00pm. Tony Award-winning actress Bernadette Peters dazzles audiences and critics with her performances on stage and television, in concert and in movies, and on recordings. Bernadette currently stars in Amazon Prime's Golden Globe nominated series, "Mozart in the Jungle." Recent stage credits include City Center's Encores! Production A Bed A Chair: A New York Love Affair. Prior to that, she starred on Broadway in the Stephen Sondheim/James Goldman production of Follies, following a successful run at the Kennedy Center. She also starred opposite Elaine Stritch in A Little Night Music.

In 2012, Bernadette was honored with her third Tony Award, The Isabelle Stevenson Special Award that acknowledges an individual from the theatre community who has made a substantial contribution of volunteered time and effort on behalf of one or more humanitarian, social service or charitable organizations.

Bernadette added author and songwriter to her achievements with her debut children's book Broadway Barks, named after the organization she co-founded with Mary Tyler Moore. The book became a New York Times Bestseller shortly after publication. The organization's annual animal adoption event takes place in Shubert Alley in New York's theater district, and benefits over 20 animal shelters in and around New York City. The book package includes a CD recording of an original song written and sung by Bernadette. Her second children's book, Stella is a Star, features another of her original songs. All proceeds from the sale of both books go to Broadway Barks. Her third children's book, Stella and Charlie: Friends Forever also benefits the organization. In 2009, she performed a one-night-only concert in New York at Minskoff Theatre, called "Bernadette Peters: A Special Concert for Broadway Barks Because Broadway Cares," which benefitted Broadway Barks and Broadway Cares/ Equity Fights AIDS.

In 2003, she received her seventh Tony nomination for her portrayal of "Momma Rose" in the Broadway revival of Gypsy, which was captured on the Grammy winning cast recording. Her CD Sondheim, Etc., Etc.: Bernadette Peters Live at Carnegie Hall (The Rest of It), features never-before-released highlights from her 1996 solo debut at Carnegie Hall, a benefit for Gay Men's Health Crisis. This performance was repeated in Bernadette Peters in Concert, her London solo debut at Royal Festival Hall, which later was telecast on PBS and available on DVD.

A native of Ozone Park, New York, Bernadette began her career at the age of 3 with appearances on "Juvenile Jury," "Name That Tune"and "The Horn & Hardart Children's Hour." She made her theatrical debut in This is Goggle, and still in her teens, appeared in The Most Happy Fella, The Penny Friend and in the touring company of Gypsy.

Bernadette made her Broadway debut in 1967 in Johnny No-Trump, and in 1968 starred in the musical George M!, earning a Theatre World Award for her portrayal of "Josie Cohan." That same year, she received a Drama Desk Award for her performance in Dames at Sea.

She received a Tony Award and Drama Desk Award for her performance in Song and Dance. In 1999, Bernadette earned her second Tony, her third Drama Desk Award, and an Outer Critics Circle Award for her portrayal of "Annie Oakley" in the Broadway revival of Annie Get Your Gun.Bernadette also received Tony nominations for The Goodbye Girl; Sunday in the Park With George; Mack and Mabel;and On The Town. She earned a Drama Desk nomination for her portrayal of the Witch in Into the Woods.

Bernadette's career doesn't end at the footlights. Her television credits include appearances on "Smash," "Grey's Anatomy"and "Ugly Betty." She appeared in the Lifetime movie Living Proof; in performing arts specials, including PBS' "Evening at Pops" and "The Kennedy Center Honors;" variety shows and an Emmy-nominated performance on "The Muppet Show." She appeared in "Sondheim: A Celebration at Carnegie Hall" and played an opera diva-on-the-verge-of-a-nervous-breakdown in "The Last Mile," both for PBS' "Great Performances." Other television credits include PBS's "Hey Mr. Producer!. the Musical World of Cameron Mackintosh" and the ABC special "Quincy Jones: the First 50 Years."

Bernadette received an Emmy nomination for her performance in "Ally McBeal."
She portrayed the wicked stepmother in "Cinderella"with Brandy and Whitney Houston, and starred in "The Odyssey," "David, Fall from Grace"and "The Last Best Year." She also appeared in the Showtime movie Bobbie's Girl (Daytime Emmy nomination) and the TNT movie Prince Charming.

Bernadette recorded the original title song for the 1998 film Barney's Great Adventure: The Movie. She is the voice of "Sophie" in the film Anastasia; as "Angelique" in the home video Beauty and the Beast: Enchanted Christmas; as "Sue" in The Land Before Time: The Great Longneck Migration, and as "Rita the Cat" in the animated Animaniacs.

Bernadette has appeared in 17 films throughout her career, including The Jerk, The Longest Yardand Annie. She received a Golden Globe Award for Pennies From Heaven.

In addition to Grammy-winning Broadway cast albums including Gypsy and Annie Get Your Gun, she has recorded six solo albums. She received Grammy nominations for Bernadette Peters Loves Rodgers & Hammerstein; Sondheim Etc.: Bernadette Peters Live at Carnegie Hall; and I'll Be Your Baby Tonight.

Bernadette's accolades range from Tony Awards to a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. In 1999, the Police Athletic League (PAL) named her Woman of the Year and the Actors Fund of America bestowed her with their Artistic Achievement Award. She has received the Special Advocate Award from the City of New York for her contributions to the gay and lesbian community, and is the youngest person to be inducted into the Theatre Hall of Fame. Bernadette received the 2000 New York Heroes Award from the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences. In 2004, she was the Arts and Entertainment recipient of the Matrix Award from New York Women in Communications, Inc. Other honors include the Sarah Siddons Actress of the Year Award and Harvard's Hasty Pudding Woman of the Year.

Bernadette devotes her time and talents to numerous events that benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, in addition to her "pet project" Broadway Barks.
