Wonderland Puppet Theater: Visions of the Beloved Community opens at the Ballard Institute and Museum of Puppetry, showcasing the pioneering work of Nancy Schmale and Alice Swann. Established in 1961, their collaboration highlights a unique, 50-year interracial puppetry journey during significant social movements in the late 20th century. The exhibition features original puppets, photographs, and archival materials, providing insight into their impact on community, children's media, and women's roles in puppetry. The exhibit will be on display from August 21 to December 15, 2024.
