Oscar Wilde’s classic play, The Importance of Being Earnest comes to the big screen for a special one-night event! To mark the 120th anniversary of this iconic play, it will be captured live on October 8, 2015, at the Vaudeville Theatre in London and broadcast to select cinemas nationwide for U.S. fans to enjoy. In addition to the play, the event will feature exclusive behind-the-scenes footage and an interview with David Suchet who plays Lady Bracknell. One of Britain’s most respected actors on stage, screen and television, David Suchet is best known with audiences around the world for his role as Agatha Christie’s Belgian detective, Hercule Poirot, in the hit TV series “Poirot.”
Considered Oscar Wilde’s best work, The Importance of Being Earnest, A Trivial Comedy for Serious People, has been making audiences laugh since it debuted in London in 1895. With hilarious farce and witty dialogue, this exhilarating masterpiece is a true crowd pleaser. Set in Victorian England, Wilde’s classic satirical comedy follows two bachelor friends, who create fake identities in a attempt to court two delightful young ladies. As things begin to go awry with their master plan, the gentlemen must grapple with the uproarious consequences of their deception. Hilarity ensues as aristocratic, romance, fortunes, double lives, and honor collide in this clever tale. Don’t miss this one-night opportunity to experience the stunning production and celebrate the 120th anniversary of this theatrical treasure.
