On Saturday, October 29 at 8:00pm, New Paradigm Theatre "Project Cabaret" teens and special guest Randye Kaye present an ensemble cabaret performance entitled, “Destinations”. (Weston, CT) “Project Cabaret” is a class that guided students in “creating their own” cabaret show with other performers! Students had the chance to choose the theme, solos and group numbers for the show and learned the process of creating a show from conception to performance. They also tested their wings as performers, PR, ticket masters, caterers, MC’s, and content creators. Kristin Huffman, Broadway veteran and artistic director of New Paradigm Theatre says, "We continue to push creative boundaries, while cultivating and teaching students how to “produce their own work”. Our teachers are experts in teaching current processes, and giving students tools to become imaginative performers, content creators, and creative entrepreneurs. We created this class with the concept: Prepare the Student for the Road, Not the Road for the Student and have been thrilled with their leadership and creativity! We hope the community comes out to support the final show! The class took place over 7 weeks and will culminate with one performance on Saturday October 29 at 8:00pm at Emmanuel Church in Weston. Tickets are $10 including desserts and coffee. Technical lighting and sound supplied by Dominic Mantuano, Executive Director of the Connecticut Burns Care Foundation. Performer, Author and Voice Over professional, Randye Kaye, joined the students to help them write their introductions and will perform with them. Helen Hen, a student participating in the program, describes the experience saying, “I’ve learned so many life skills that I will continue to use in the future through Project Cabaret. Things like organization, team work, and marketing will be super helpful no matter what career I go into.” The “Destinations” cabaret will be Saturday October 29 at 8:00pm at Emmanuel Church in Weston.
