Ricky Ian Gordon updates the classic love story of Orpheus and Euridice for the modern era. His beautifully lyrical music embodies both the best of musical theater and classical art song, and his novel and thrilling approach to this tale has the clarinetist perform the role of Orpheus in staged interactions with the soprano, who plays Euridice—all over a lush accompaniment of strings and piano.
Orpheus and Euridice is a part of a Chamber Series collaboration between Music Theatre of Connecticut (MTC) and the Norwalk Symphony Orchestra (NSO) for the 2024-2025 season. This innovative series will bring contemporary music to life through a magical fusion of music, dance, and theatre, creating a sensory feast for audiences of all ages. Performances will take place at Music Theatre of CT, located at 509 Westport Ave, Norwalk, CT.
